________________________________________ RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILIES ________________________________________
Co-Parenting Website: Minnesota Fathers and Families Network and their Minnesota partner agencies have developed a great resource for parents and professionals interested in the topic of co-parenting. Learn about co-parenting for married, divorced, never-married and teen families. Find out how substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, or incarceration impacts the ability to parent together. Online here: www.WeCanParentTogether.org.
________________________________________ Effort to Provide Health Care to Families : The Minnesota Coalition for Healthy Kids has launched the website www.HealthyKidsMN.org to connect families with uninsured children to non-profits that can help them enroll into state-sponsored health care coverage. Organizers say the biggest challenge is getting the message out that even if you work, your kids may qualify for free or reduced-cost health coverage from the state.
________________________________________ CLIMB Theatre Update It's that time of year again. Summer's almost here, and we at CLIMB are preparing for the fall. Already, we’re filling up our September and October calendar with performances of our educational plays and classes. We’re ready to find a date that works for you.
What’s new?
- If you’ve yet to see our new plays on bullying, cyberbullying, and harassment for grades K-9, now’s the time. As younger and younger kids gain access to technology, the cloak of anonymity provided by text messaging and social networks makes it easy for kids to forget the impact their words and actions can have on others. Start your year off with a reminder that compassionate behavior leads to a strong and healthy school community.
- Does your school serve preschoolers? You’re in luck. For the first time in over a decade, CLIMB has created a series of delightful mini-dramas for preschoolers that address issues ranging from classroom conduct to letter and number recognition.
- Are you ready for a long-term approach? A single play or workshop is a powerful reminder for respectful behavior, but if you’re ready to engage in programming that has the potential to transform your school climate, we’re ready to work. CLIMB will partner with your school to create a peer leadership group who will continue to work within your school after CLIMB has left the building.
- What about graduation standards? For the first time in CLIMB’s history, we will employ the tools we’ve used for character education to get your students thinking about history, reading, language, and possibly even math and science. Is there a section of your curriculum you’d like CLIMB’s help with? Let us know, and we can work together.
- Working with Second Step, Character Counts, Olweus, or PBIS? Our plays and classes provide excellent support to these programs.
