| Why did the Initiative Foundation decide to start a meth coalition program? |
| At no other time in our organization’s history have we been faced with a more far-reaching and destructive crisis than we are now. The illegal production, use and distribution of methamphetamine is threatening the future of every community. It has devastating effects on our local communities and their economies, environment, overall well-being and the health of its citizens. Over the last five years, more than 300 meth labs have been discovered in our 14 county region. Our counties are reporting $1 to $2 million in additional annual meth-related costs. School officials, parents and social service providers are desperately seeking ways to support children living in meth homes, and to prevent more youth from using the drug. |

| What is MN ICE? |
ICE is one of the most common street names for meth. Using that term, the Initiative Foundation changed it to an acronym identifying the three aspects of our battle against meth.

| Where are IF supported meth coalitions currently located? |
Active county-wide coalitions are located in Benton, Cass, Crow Wing, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Stearns, Todd and Wadena counties. The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe also have active coalitions within their communities.
