$58,200 Awarded for Emerging Needs, Capacity Grants
The Initiative Foundation has awarded nine grants totaling $58,200 to Central Minnesota nonprofits to strengthen their organizations and respond to urgent community needs.
The latest round of emerging needs and nonprofit capacity-building grants supports organizations working to maintain essential services while also investing in leadership, communications, planning and long-term organizational strength.
“Nonprofits are constantly adapting—whether they’re responding to an unexpected funding gap, increased demand for services or a need to strengthen their organization for the future,” said Amy Trombley, Initiative Foundation vice president for community. “These grants give our nonprofit partners flexible support to address what’s most important right now while continuing to serve their communities.”
Among the organizations receiving funding:
- Walker Area Food Shelf, Walker: $5,000 to meet a 13% increase in demand for food.
- District 742 Local Education & Activities Foundation, St. Cloud: $10,000 to improve communications, raise visibility and connect with donors.
- Relationship Safety Alliance, Brainerd: $10,000 for strategic planning, leadership development, revenue diversification and to build organizational capacity.
The six additional grant recipients are Eagle’s Healing Nest, Sauk Centre; Ellison Center, St. Cloud; Family Safety Network, Walker; Northland Arboretum, Brainerd; Sherburne County Area United Way, Elk River; and The Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes. Initiative Foundation grants are designed to meet long-term development goals and immediate community needs. Its economic, community and workforce development grants focus on early-stage, innovative efforts that strengthen local economies, expand opportunity and build a skilled workforce.
