As the Initiative Foundation marks its 40th anniversary, its 2026–2028 Strategic Framework honors the past while preparing Central Minnesota for the future. Founded in 1986 on the belief that regional prosperity drives Minnesota’s success, the Foundation recommits to core work that includes loans, grants and investments in people and places.
The framework urges meeting emerging needs, building community capacity and leading with courage, curiosity and humility. It emphasizes listening, strengthening the Foundation as a rural development hub, circulating local wealth and championing bold entrepreneurs. Through trusted partnerships and shared risk, durable, inclusive change grows alongside resilient communities across the region.
