20 Good Neighbor Grants Distributed
The Initiative Foundation has awarded 20 Good Neighbor Grants to Central Minnesota nonprofits that provide essentials such as food, housing support, safety resources and youth and family services. Grants of $2,500 to $12,500 will support organizations across the 14 counties and two Native Nations the Foundation serves.
This one-time grant round was made possible through a $100,000 allocation from the McKnight Foundation, which selected the Initiative Foundation as a regional partner to help quickly respond to urgent community needs. Statewide, McKnight awarded $1 million through its Good Neighbor Grants.
“This special grant round reflects the power of partnership and responsiveness in times of need,” said Amy Trombley, Initiative Foundation vice president for community. “By working with the McKnight Foundation, we can quickly channel resources to address urgent challenges—whether it’s food insecurity, heating assistance or other essentials—so families and communities feel supported. It’s about neighbors helping neighbors, and we’re honored to play a role in that.”
Good Neighbor Grants bolster frontline organizations that meet essential needs for Central Minnesota families. From emergency shelters and immigrant support programs to basic needs services, these partners strengthen community bonds and reinforce the Initiative Foundation’s mission to empower people throughout the region.
