Loans Leverage $8.8 Million in Private Financing
The Initiative Foundation provided $826,000 through seven business loans during the first quarter of 2026, helping leverage $8.8 million in private financing through partnering financial institutions.
The loans supported business acquisitions, property improvements, equipment investments, working capital and commercial real estate financing needs across Central Minnesota.
“Access to capital remains one of the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurs and business owners, particularly in rural communities,” said Zach Tabatt, vice president for economic opportunity at the Initiative Foundation. “These investments help businesses seize opportunities, strengthen local economies and create long-term vitality in the communities they serve. We’re proud to partner with local lenders to help make these projects possible.”
Projects supported through first-quarter financing included:
- Yesterday’s Gone, Brainerd—Refinanced an existing commercial real estate loan for the bar and restaurant.
- Miss Pumper, Wahkon—Received financing to repair and improve a septic pumping truck, supporting the continued delivery of essential services in the region.
- ANP Streaming, LLC, Big Lake—Received financing to complete development of a Christian music streaming platform through the purchase of equipment and software.
- K&M Ventures Bricks Travel Center One, Motley—Purchased and assumed operation of Bricks Travel Center, including the convenience store, fuel station, restaurant and truck wash.
In total, seven businesses received financing during the first quarter. As a result of these loans, $8.8 million in private financing was leveraged through partnering financial institutions.
The Initiative Foundation provides mission-driven loans and coaching to help businesses start, expand, transition and strengthen communities throughout Central Minnesota.
