Grant Writing 201

This intermediate-level intensive workshop is geared toward nonprofit staff or long-term volunteers with grant writing experience who are ready to take the next step in crafting winning proposals.

This workshop will help participants …

  • understand the different types of grant proposal formats
  • learn how to draft sections of a grant proposal to gain a competitive edge
  • develop a thorough plan for spending grant monies
  • review proposals from the funder’s viewpoint
  • learn definitions and calculations for standard budget line items
  • understand what happens after a grant is awarded and your organization’s responsibilities.

The Initiative Foundation’s Nonprofit Academy trainings are part of the mission of the Foundation to serve the people of Central Minnesota. If your organization is located outside our 14 county and two Native nation service area, please contact Nicole Clements regarding options for participating.

Presented by: Deneene Graham

Deneene Graham has worked with nonprofits and public organizations for more than 15 years. During that time, she has held various roles including grant writer, project manager, community impact specialist, research assistant, board member and community volunteer. Her most rewarding and successful roles have been those where she secured grant funding for programs she helped to develop. Deneene has also been on the other side of the grant funding equation as she spent several years coordinating the grantmaking process for a local funder.
